One of the best hotels in Philadelphia!

Cons: Cost of rooms and food can be prohibitive
The Bottom Line: This is one of my favorite hotels in Philadelphia. It's worth the splurge.

I've stayed at many hotels in Philadelphia, but none comes even close to the level of service or comfort at the Sofitel.
First, the concierge and front desk staff are excellent and provide the highest level of service. They were able to book a rental car for me and have it ready to go when I showed up to check in. Second, they were very knowledgeable about Philadelphia and recommended superb restaurants to us.
Second, the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms are second-to-none. The bed is amazingly comfortable; it was hard to get out of bed in the morning. This bed beats the Westin Heavenly Bed by miles. I had one of the best nights of sleep here than I have had in a long time. The rooms are very well appointed and even have a flat-screen TV for the guests' viewing pleasure. Decor is decidedly modern. The bathroom appeared to be brand new and very up-to-date. A stand-up shower and bathtub are included.
The hotel's location is ideal. It is right in the middle of Center City, placing it only a few blocks from Rittenhouse Square, Center City's main park, and right in the middle of a ton of nightlife. The hotel is also close to many tourist attractions. It is a short walk or a quick cab ride down to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in Old City.
The food at the hotel is also excellent. Complimentary continental breakfast was offered when I stayed. We also took advantage of the room service, which was expensive, but completely worth the splurge.
This hotel is not cheap, but good deals can be found online. Weekend deals are often easy to come by. I did get a lower price for the Sofitel than the Westin when I priced both.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. It will make your stay in Philadelphia that much better!
