I have read a lot of Deepak Chopra's books and have noticed a kind of evolution. This book is far different from his earlier books.

A lot of his early books focused so much on Eastern medicine, that I found them hard to understand. In this book, Deepak is entirely focused on man and his relationship with God.

In this book Deepak says there are basically seven ways of knowing God. These relate, not only to the levels of civilization that mankind as a whole has passed through, but relates as well to the evolution of each person as an individual.

Man can only know God based on the knowledge he has and the experiences he goes through. Man can only know God by what is in his own mind. How man sees the world and other humans is a reflection how he knows God and vica versa.

If man sees the world as harsh and judgmental, if he sees his fellow man as harsh and judgmental, he will see God as harsh and judgmental. A person who sees God in this way will tend to be harsh and judgmental himself.

Deepak goes further to say that none of these ways of knowing God are wrong, they are just different levels on the way to a deeper relationship and a more in depth understanding of God.

I was especially impressed with his wonderful blending of the latest in physics with the latest concepts that have been embraced by spirituality minded people.

If you have ever had a hard time understanding how some people can see God as a harsh judge who deals out punishments, and others see God as a joyful God that loves his creation, this book will help you to understand that both these ideas of God are only different ways of knowing the one God.
