Pros: Holds in the fluids
Cons: Diaper fell apart approximately 20% of the time.
The Bottom Line: Hands down, these Huggies diapers were the worst diapers we have tried. The diapers completely fell apart numerous times.

I recently shared my disdain of Pampers Cruisers*. For the money, these diapers ought to have better Velcro fasteners and fit active babies just a little better. I am a big fan of Pampers Baby Dry diapers but, twould appear I am easily seduced by a bargain. So, upon finding that a mega-sized package of Huggies Baby Shaped diapers were drastically marked down at our local supermarket, I quickly scooped them up and threw them in my cart.
Huggies the Baby-Shaped Diaper
Huggies Baby Shaped diapers are advertised as having New! Nouveau! Nuevo! Triple Protection Leak Barriers. Yes, in three languages, these diapers claim a more superb protection against drippy, oozy diapers. The diapers themselves look like other Huggies diapers I have seen, only discernable difference are the cute little Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse designs on the front cover. The diapers are supposed to have that cloth-like feel but in this case, Id say it is more a paper-like feel to them. They are also advertised as being shaped for your unique baby and this is perhaps Huggies first problem.
Huggies First Problem
As stated on Huggies website: HUGGIES® diapers are the Baby-Shaped® diapers. HUGGIES® are shaped to fit your unique baby for unbelievable leak protection. And they stretch to HUG your baby around the legs and waist. Because no matter what shape your baby is, every HUGGIES® Diaper is Baby-Shaped®! Perhaps somebody should explain to the makers of these diapers, that being unique means to be different or one of a kind. I can tell you that while these diapers may very well be made for some baby, somewhere on the face of this planet, they were not made for my active baby.
My First and Biggest Complaint
We purchased the Super Mega pack of 80 diapers because they were on sale (mental note to self: remember that one of the reasons items go on sale is because NOBODY ELSE WILL BUY THEM). Of the 80 diapers in the bag, at least 15 of them ripped while my daughter was wearing them. I am not sure why they are designed this way, but the front portion of the diaper where you are supposed to close the tabs on each side (you know, the part where every diaper manufacturer feels they need to put cute little pictures?) actually peels off! The Velcro fasteners stay firmly in place, but suddenly, the bottom falls out of this diaper. This means that on at least 15 occasions, by daughters diaper was still secure around her waist by that flimsy paper portion of the diaper with the cute pictures while the rest of her soggy diaper was hanging down near her knees. I dont even know if I can describe this adequately because Ive never seen a diaper do this before. Imagine the waist portion of the diaper as a belt when secured around the waist and the rest of the diaper, once torn, hung from her back like a big, white, soggy tail and she was left au natural. My biggest complain then is the design of the diaper. Huggies Baby Shaped Diapers are flimsy and fall apart easily.
My SecondComplaint
My daughter had had Fifth Disease and shortly after a pretty nasty virus. As a result, she had lost a few lbs and was only 24 lbs. Since Huggies advertises its size 3s as fitting babies between the weights of 16 and 28 lbs. When I purchased these diapers, they were on sale and quite a bit cheaper than our normal Pampers Baby Dry diapers that work so well. So, wanting to save a bit of money, I tossed the pack of 80 diapers in my cart. Turns out, Huggies diapers run small. My daughter was four lbs under the limit and they did not fit very well at all. Just based on my own observations, I would not purchase these diapers for babies over maybe 20 or 22 lbs (if you still want to purchase them even knowing how flimsy and ill constructed they are).
Here is the breakdown of sizes according to Huggies:
Size 1-----------up to 14 lbs.
Size 2-----------12 to 18 lbs.
Size 3-----------16 to 28 lbs.
Size 4-----------22 to 37 lbs.
Size 5-----------over 27 lbs.
Size 6-----------over 35 lbs.
Just remember to take this sizing chart with a HUGE grain of salt.
Was there Anything I liked?
Yes, actually while the diaper held together, it did absorb everything and the diapers did not leak. However, when you consider that these diapers fell apart on her at least 20% of the time and everything ended up soaked, that is not saying much. I ended up changing her sheets numerous times and wiping up puddles on the floor because the bottom literally fell out of this diaper and she was crawling around au naturel with her diaper trailing behind.
My Final Recommendation
If I was stranded on a desert island and could only choose between Pampers Cruisers or Huggies Baby Shaped diapers, Id be sorely tempted to let my daughter run around diaperless (hey, it is a desert island!). I suppose, when hard pressed, Id go with the Pampers Cruisers. Huggies Baby Shaped diapers deserve the fate of sitting for decades on that store shelf. Fortunately, you are not on a desert island, and, for you, my friend, I heartily recommend trying Pampers Baby Dry diapers or, for that matter, just about any other diaper in the store.
