Pros: One of the only disposable swimming diapers on the market, doesn't swell up
Cons: EXPENSIVE. Did I say EXPENSIVE?
The Bottom Line: Recommend it if you are looking for a disposable swimming diaper, and have coupons. At full price these are too expensive!!

| marytara's Full Review: Huggies Little Swimmers |
I purchased Huggies Little Swimmers the other day when a friend of ours invited us to go to their pool with our 6 month old son. I do have swimming trunks for him but needed a diaper for underneath.
Many pools have regulations that children cannot enter them without diapers (nor would I let my son into a pool without a diaper) and also they do not allow you to use regular disposable diapers in the pool as well.
Have you ever seen a child wearing a disposable diaper in a swimming pool? The diaper absorbs about 1/2 the pool's water and blows up it looks like the poor toddler has a basketball in their diaper. Eventually the diaper will burst and explode. That's bad news. The gel like substance and "beads" will not only make a mess in the pool but it jams up pool filters. And, now you have urine and baby poop in the pool as well. Yuck!
Huggies Little Swimmers were designed so that they don't swell up and explode the way ordinary diapers do. You can see an online demonstration of this, called the "Water Test" at the Product Website at http://www.littleswimmers.com.
These diapers are Pricey. I purchased a package of 12 swim diapers for $7.99. They come in 3 sizes : Small (16-26 lbs.), Medium (24-34 lbs.) and Large (32+ lbs.) and are sold for about the same price and approximate quantity. (The Size small has 12 diapers, Medium 11 diapers and Large has 10 diapers)
Huggies Little Swimmers are suitable for both boys and girls. You can pick from one of 4 different color combinations, though the store I got them from only had the smalls in one color, the mediums in another and the larges in another. Thankfully the size I needed was the blue one since I didn't want to put my son in a pink diaper. The color combos are : Fuschia with purple, Turquoise with Purple, Purple with Turquoise and Blue with Turquoise. The main part of the diaper has little patterns of footprints, suns, starfish etc and the sides are a solid color. They are cute enough to be worn alone, or you can wear them under a bathing suit or swimming trunks. The diaper has a tag in the back to differentiate the front of the diaper from the back. Though it looks pretty reversible, I didn't notice a big difference in the padding in the front or the back.
These diapers don't go on and off the way regular diapers do (with tape or velcro closures). Instead they are made the same as a "pull-up" or training pants. You can pull them on like underpants and then either take them off by pulling them down or for a quick change you can just tear the sides. They have special "tear away" sides for this purpose. The diaper has a lot of stretch for a custom-fit that is comfortable.
Huggies Little Swimmers claim to be leakproof. My son has yet to have a poop while in the pool so I can't attest to that. They don't look they would contain soft poops that many babies do (especially breast-fed babies).
Overall, I'm pleased with this swim diaper from Huggies. Though, I will also try the one from Luvs as well since I have a coupon. I wish Pampers made one, since I prefer Pampers diapers over Huggies, and of course I'm always on the lookout for suitable generics. In my opinion, Huggies Little Swimmers just cost way too much!!
