Pros: Extra flaps on the sides help stop leaks
Cons: Could use some more absorbancy in the padding; Higher price than most diapers
The Bottom Line: These are decent diapers and a definite improvement over regular Huggies. But they are not deserving of the name "Supreme".

| Bryan_Carey's Full Review: Huggies Supreme Diapers |
For the past six months I have been sampling different brands of diapers on my little one and I have found a noticeable difference between brand names. I have found some diapers that offer superior protection against leaks. I have found some diapers that are more absorbent than others. I have also learned that a popular brand name does not always mean a quality diaper and vice versa. One of the popular brands that isnt as great as its name suggests but still passes my tests of required quality is Huggies Supreme, a diaper that takes the original Huggies brand and improves it slightly.
Basic Facts About This Product:
Huggies Supreme diapers have a cloth- like exterior with a Winnie the Pooh/Eyore design and other colorful marks to make them cute. The padding on the inside is soft and cotton- like with enough absorbent material to handle small to medium loads.
The elastic around the legs of this diaper fits more snugly and it quickly bounces back when stretched, making it more likely to prevent leaks. Extra flaps of protection exist on the sides of these diapers to further reduce the chances for leaks. Huggies Supreme also claims that its diapers have taller tabs and fasteners; a taller waistband; and a wider landing pad to make the process of changing diapers easier.
Like regular Huggies, these diapers come in six size levels: Size 1 is for infants up to fourteen pounds; Size 2 is for babies between twelve and eighteen pounds; Size 3 is used for kids between sixteen and twenty- eight pounds; Size 4 fits kids from twenty- two to thirty- seven pounds; Size 5 is for kids over twenty- seven pounds; and Size 6 is for larger children over thirty- five pounds. Each size level overlaps its weight recommendation with the sizes close to it, making it easy to switch from one to the next.
Huggies Supreme uses velcro tabs to keep the diaper firmly in place. These tabs will stick to a large area on the front of the diaper, just above the drawing of Winnie the Pooh and Eyore, making them easy to adjust to the right level of tightness.

Final Thoughts:
Huggies is a product of the Kimberly- Clark Corporation and it is one of the most recognizable names in baby care. I have become more and more familiar with this company and others that manufacture baby goods over the past few months thanks to the birth of my baby girl back in the summer.
Among the different baby products on the market, the one that I have experimented with the most (tried different products) is diapers and after my negative experience with regular Huggies, I was going to give up on this brand for good. But I knew that Huggies also made a Supreme diaper and, given my firm belief that every product at least deserves a chance, I gave in and purchased my first bag of Huggies Supreme back in September, 2005.
The first question I wanted answered was the obvious one: What is so special about Huggies Supreme? What qualities does this diaper possess that makes it better than the regular style? I found out the answer to this and other questions following some quick internet research. One thing I could tell right away (before doing any research) is that the elastic in the legs of Huggies Supreme is far superior to the regular Huggies brand. This diaper has more spring in its elastic, keeping it more snug against your babys legs and therefore less likely to leak. You can easily tell the difference if you compare one of each of these diapers side by side. Huggies Supreme hugs your baby more tightly, helping keep messes to a minimum.
The other differences between the two diapers are not so obvious. The tabs are taller than with regular Huggies- something I wouldnt have noticed on my own. The waistband is taller, too. And, most importantly, Huggies Supreme has extra flaps on the inside edges of the diapers. These are green in color and they help form a protective barrier that keeps messes inside the diaper.
Huggies Supreme is sold for a uniform price for the different sizes, but as you increase in size, the number of diapers per package declines. With Size 1, there are 50 diapers in a standard package; With Size 2, there are 44; Size 3, 38; Size 4, 34; Size 5, 30; and Size 6, 26. These quantities are about 20 percent lower than the same size level for a package of regular Huggies. And, like regular Huggies, each size level costs about the same, roughly $11. With fewer diapers in each package as you increase in size, the cost per diaper continuously increases as your baby grows. Super Mega Packs are also available, with twice as many diapers in each package for about 70 percent more cost; reducing the per- diaper cost down to a more reasonable level.
Huggies Supreme diapers are certainly an improvement over regular Huggies. But are they the perfect way to keep your baby comfortable and your house as fresh and clean as possible? No, they are not. I still have a few small problems with this diaper and I still experience some messiness. Probably my greatest problem is that the padding, while soft, doesnt have more of the material necessary to absorb large amounts of urine. I dont know if my little one has an overactive bladder or what, but she certainly can fill up a diaper to the point of overflowing. These diapers could earn a higher rating if Kimberly- Clark increased the padding in order to be extra absorbent. I like the easy to use Velcro tabs and the simplicity of taking them off and putting a new one on. But these are qualities that exist with most diapers nowadays so I cant give Huggies Supreme any extra credit in these areas.
Overall, however, these diapers are better than regular Huggies and the extra cost is easily worth the added security and convenience. I dont think these diapers are worthy of having a word like Supreme in the name. But they are still pretty good diapers, worth an occasional purchase or two when you need to buy some diapers and nothing better is available.
