I finally broke down and bought a package of Huggies Supreme diapers after receiving a free sample from them in the mail. I was suckered by the cute pictures of school busses they have on the front and back (as if anyone sees them when my son wears them? Not!) There is a large picture of animals in a school bus on the buttocks of the diaper, and a smaller version of the picture on the front.
So, I bought a jumbo sized package because it was more economical that way. There are 36 size 5 diapers in a jumbo package, and it cost $13.99.
The velcro tabs on the sides of the diaper are not attached securely, and on one in every five diapers, the tabs would rip off when I was in the middle of diapering my son. This was an incredible inconvenience when I was out in public and only had one or two diapers with me. Thank heavens for other moms who were able to spare a diaper for us when our Huggies Supreme failed to function.
I was also disgusted by the little clear beads that leak out of the diaper and all over my son's bottom when the diaper gets wet. They are supposedly non-toxic, but they are very difficult to get off. As far as keeping my son dry, they do a fair job, but these little beads of absorbent material are very annoying. Huggies Supreme diapers have a Ultra Skin Guard Liner. Maybe it's to guard my son's bottom from those nasty little clear beads?
The outer material of the diaper has a fabric-like feel to it and initially this is nice...but after 20 minutes of wear, the fabric-like material pills and picks up dirt, dust and lint, getting absolutely filthy.
These diapers are very sweet to look at the first few minutes they are on (I mean, who can resist a little picture of animals riding in a school bus?). But they don't hold up. I am not impressed.
