| savageray66's Full Review: Humminbird Smartcast Wireless Fishfinder System Rf... |
Over the summer I bought and returned 2 of these fish finder units not because they did not work but the range on these fish finder were not as the advertised. The fist one I returned because I thought it was defective, the 2nd I returned because of the range issue I found in the first unit. I am a surf fisherman in Jamaica bay area on the outskirts of New York City; at this location there is relatively light wave action to almost calm water. The only reading I get on the receiver is at very low tide at approximately 40 feet out and at high tide at 20 feet out. The design and ideas behind this fish are great the designers that make the product must fish with it and figure out why the range is not as stated. I would definitely buy another fish finder like the hummingbird rf10 but they must fix their product issues first.
By the way i bought this product in 2003.
