Pros:Excellent power to weight ratio, smooth vigration free operation, ease of cleaning, good balance, reliability
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend the Husky 353, especially for the non-professional user! Great quality and reliability.
My brother-in-law and I purchased a Husky Rancher 44 chainsaw back probably 20 or so years ago and were extremely happy with the performance of that saw. We cut a lot of wood with it and never had any serious problems. Husqvarna has an excellent reputation around here (Washington State) and we've never regretted purchasing that saw. A couple years ago, when we finally retired the Rancher, we of course decided to go with another Husky. I checked out the new models and decided to purchase the 353. I considered a couple of higher power models but they were a bit heavier than the 353, plus quite a bit pricier. The 353 has a bit more power than the 44 did and is not much heavier.

Since then I have downed quite a few good sized birches and alders with this saw and cut up a lot of firewood. In addition to that I recently bucked up a 24" diameter old fallen maple. It cuts through wood, even the maple, faster than our old saw did. The saw has plenty of power for a person with a small ranch or forested property. The size and weight of this saw is well suited for those of us that are a bit smaller in stature! It is well balanced and I can still cut wood all day without getting too fatigued, even though I'm pushing 60. I especially like the chain tension adjustment being on the side of the saw where it is easy to get at.
The only slight complaint I have is probably not really the saws fault. I've had a muffler bolt come loose several times while using the saw (so I try to double check to make sure they are tight now before I start cutting). I also now carry a spare bolt just in case!
