We own over twenty acres in the country with around 3-4 acres which are kept mowed and weed-eated. OK, let me state here that in our area we do not call them trimmers. They are weed-eaters so you will have to pardon my Southern way of talking. It is my intention to, someday, get around to upgrading my speech patterns but dang me, I am almost too old to change!

Once a week, I am on my John Deere riding mower spending more than half a day keeping the yard mowed (I want to be able to see a snake, if one is nearby, before it sees me). Another thing, we call it a yard and not a lawn. Give me time and I may upgrade this old brain of mine for a more sophisticated one. I tend to get off the subject and go the long way around the bush so bear with me. I will eventually get there.

My husband does the weed-eating. After years of use, our old John Deere weed-eater wore out, and at the beginning of spring, he said it was time to replace it with a new one. We did some shopping around and found the Husqvarna 125L at our local Lowes store with the right price we could afford at the time, so we purchased it and I am happy to say, it has performed great. Even I have found it easy to use.

MY EXPERIENCE
It has been necessary for me to do the weed-eating a few times this spring. My terms of technological wording may not jibe with the true gardener's lexicon but since this is My Experience, these are my words (no offense meant to all you professionals and non professionals).

The position of the handle on the shaft needed to be changed as it was uncomfortable for me to hold, so this was accomplished with just a few twists of a screw and then tightening it securely for use. Other than that, adding new cord (we use 080), and refilling the gas tank from time to time, the job went much quicker and easier than I thought. From watching my son and husband use our different weed-eater's over the years, I knew about purging the pump before starting and pulling the cord (sometimes men can go wild if they are using an old weed-eater that requires a lot of cord pulling). With a pull on the cord, I was humming along. With a tank full of gas, I averaged around an hour's worth of work.

Since the HUSQVARNA 125L Trimmer weighs a whopping 10.6 pounds (my oldest daughter, Melissa, weighed 9lbs 9ozs when she was born), I was expecting a heavy load to carry around, so imagine my surprise at how easy and quickly I accomplished this chore carrying around over ten pounds! It would have been easier if there was a strap to lighten the load but it really was not that bad. If it had been, I would not have been able to use it for the length of time I did. I am not Wonder Woman. I am Vimp Voman without a lot of voom.

Changing the cord was a simple matter of releasing the spool and restringing. It was "easy" to see how this worked. My husband had told me he used around 15 feet of cord when respooling. I added a couple of extra feet and did fine. My HUSQVARNA 125L Trimmer fed the cord well and there were no tangles (something I was glad of).

The vibration from holding and using the HUSQVARNA 125L Trimmer was not bad. I did take breaks about every 30 minutes so this may have been one reason why it never bothered me. As for the noise level, I did find it on the loud side so I can see why ear plugs are recommended.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I would rather ride and mow than use the weed-eater but this is something I can do when necessary. There is a lot of weed-eating done around my house, the edges of the fields, out buildings, trees, shrubs, front of the road and even down by the pond at times, so I think we have found another weed-eater that will give us years of good service. I highly recommend it.
