| Techdude49's Full Review: Lenovo ThinkPad T22 2647 (TT28EUK) PC Notebook |
Hello,
The T22 is an excellent product from IBM. Is is fast, light, and basically does everything a laptop should. This is the most powerful portable computer I have used to date. From my 6 months with it, I would have to say (aside from the keyboard burning up) it can hold it's own with most desktops. I'm talking applications, but the graphics are still impressive. The Savage video is very good for most applications and games. This is not a laptop to bring to a LAN party, but you still wouldn't be laughed out of the room if you decided to be brave.
The TrackPoint is a much needed improvment from the TouchPads on other systems. The keys are responsive the light for the keyboard actually comes in handy in some situations. The Ultrabay feature allows for hotswapping a DVD, CDRW, Floppy, additonal Hard Drive, etc... and has been wonderful when having to quickly switch out my DVD with the Floppy. No lock-ups, just wait a second for the system to recognize the new drive and you're up and running without a reboot. The built-in Ethernet card and modem really save space.
My system is running Windows 2000 with 256MB RAM. With 512 MB of RAM and an additional 20GB hard drive, I think it will be a wise investment for the next few years.
Finally, I mentioned in the "Cons" that the keyboard can get rather hot. I had a situation where the shell was not venting the heat properly and it damaged a section of the mainboard under the keys. IBM provided me with a new shell and it's been running fine.
