Pros: lightweight, inexpensive, look hot, good for league play
Cons: no toe strap, Pro players-buy a better set of pads
The Bottom Line: If you're a part-time goalie, these are a great pad at a great price!

I play in a local adult league and love these. Yes, they aren't pro level pads, but I ain't playing against pro level players :) I picked them up for about $200 on ebay, so the price made it a no brainer. I had a friend tell me, after I ordered them, that they were entry level pads.
I don't think they are at all. They are amazingly high quality for the price. The graphics look great. Would I recommend them for a high school player? Yes. College? In a lower division, probably. I've faced some shots from former NHLers in these and I didn't feel it.
They are amazingly light. I had some older (10 yr old or so pads) before I got these ones this past fall and the weight difference is quite noticeable. They also don't throw rebounds out quite as far. They do a good job on absorbing some of the force. It actually took alittle bit to get used to it. I have to pounce on the puck more than before.
one other review mentioned goalie weight as a factor on the pads. I'm 6'6" 250lbs and they have stood up just fine. I do wish the knee cradle offered alittle more protection, but compared to the fact my old pads had none, its a huge improvement.
They do use the "newer" lacing system instead of the toe strap. I don't care for that. I'm looking to pick up a toe strap kit here soon.
The straps are OK. They are sturdy, but they are difficult to get "set" right. It took afew practices before they were comfortable. The top 3 are nylon straps with clips instead of the standard leather with a belt-type buckle. Every time I play I seem to have to make a minor adjustment to them. Usually, by the time I'm done with warm-ups, they are hands off.
The Velcro on the knee cup tends to "wiggle" while I play and when I take them off, they take a piece of my sock with them. There also is a knee guard on the top of your knee to help if you're down and a puck comes flying at your knee. Its way too lightweight to have any substantial protection. Again, my old pads never had it and I never got hit there, so I don't worry much about it.
How are they on the ice? I'm a stand up goalie. They provide great coverage when I'm down in the stance. I'm a larger guy, so I don't go down very often. So far, when I have, they have provided good coverage where needed. The pads are slightly textured, which does help control sliding on the ice when you go to pounce on the puck.
Are these pads for NHLers? nope. Are they great for us older guys playing in a local league 8-10 times a month, perfect.
