I have grown up to the sound of "Lucy, you got somesplainnin to do!", I was thrilled when Matel produced this life-like rendition of Lucy. It is really amazing how much this doll looks like the real Lucy, just as we remember her in the episode, "Job Switching". Even down to the little details like the buttons on her outfit are exact replica.I believe that Matel picked the most favored of the Lucy shows.
However, as a Barbie Collector, I was disapointed not to get to add this doll to my collection. Although the Lucy doll is a beautiful likeness, I wish that Matel would have made a Barbie dressed as Lucy, instead. Kind of like Repunzel Barbie, Christian Dior Barbie, the Vera Wange Barbie, ect.
I like the idea of "Barbie", and Although the Lucy doll is made by Matel, she is not a Barbie. I chose not to break the theme of my collection. But I love the doll, maybe Matel will come through for us Barbie Collectors.
