I'm a Little Teapot- Adventures of a LITTLE teapot
Written: Jan 18 '08 (Updated Jan 28 '08)
Pros:It's a cute little story.
Cons:Nothing.
The Bottom Line: It's a cute story about a very adventurous teapot and the illustrations are wonderful.
Im a Little Teapot is a cute little book about a teapot who not only loves to make tea, but loves to dream also. Join me as I tell you about the adventures of Im a Little Teapot.
Of course you know the song and that is how the book starts out. Im a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my spout. When I get all steamed up, hear me shout. Just tip me over, pour me out!
The little teapot sits patiently on the stove waiting for someone to make tea. And while he waits, he dreams. He dreams about going to China and flying a kite in a boat. He is also eating with chopsticks as they float.
Then, he dreams about going to Mexico and speaking Spanish. Im a Little Teapot becomes a mighty matador and fights the bull while you keep score.
Next, hes off to space to another planet where he meets an alien in person.
And then he wants to go to the opera, la, la, la where hell play in the orchestra while you sing an aria. And of course, what does every little teapot want to be, but a pirate at sea on a windy day.
Following the pirate adventure, he goes on a fox hunt racing with the hounds, blowing trumpets and riding along on a horse. Then he hides deep in the jungle and plays peekaboo.
Its finally time to make tea for the whole family and he is finished dreaming for the time being.
Its an adorable little book and I admire the imagination that was put into this book. Who could imagine a teapot flying a kite in China or being a pirate on a ship in the windy sea?
It is told and illustrated by Iza Trapani. The illustrations are bold and colorful and creative. My daughters favorite picture is the one when Im a Little Teapot visits China and there is a picture of him sitting in a boat flying a huge kite in the shape of a dragon. The two children in the family are also sitting in the boat and one is eating food with chopsticks.
This was originally written in 1996, and based on the song of the same name, written in 1939. It is geared towards the audience of age four through eight. It is 30 pages long. It is available for purchase at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Im-Little-Teapot-Iza-Trapani/dp/1580890105/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200707821&sr=1-1 for $7.95.
This is my eleventh entry in the The best LITTLE write off ever
