| Ladysmom's Full Review: Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food |
About a month ago we started noticing a problem with one of our five cats. His breath was horrible and he wasn't wanting to eat his dry food. The poor little thing was starting to loose weight.
We decided that with five cats he might not be getting enough to eat so in order for him to at least maintain we decided on feeding him Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food and one of us standing there guarding him so that the other four cats wouldn't push him out of the way.
He seemed to try to eat the Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food but just couldn't. It didn't look like he was being picky but having a problem.
He was taken to the vet as he always seemed to have a hearty appetite and they noticed that his gums were swollen and there was a huge sore on the inside of his little cheek. He would not allow any of us to open his mouth and I can see why now.
The Vets prescribed a course of treatment hoping to get the problem under control and all the time one of use was available at feeding time for him. He really wanted to eat the Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food. In the end surgery was performed in his little mouth to remove the growth.
While Gonzo was recovering from his surgery we still fed him the Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food as the Vet said the dry food might tear the surgery area open.
When offering him the food after the surgery we thinned it out with some liquid that the Vet said to use along with the food and he was starting to enjoy his Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food.
Now three weeks after surgery and nothing to thin the food Gonzo has turned into a little pig with the Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food. He sees the can and starts howling, he is ready to eat. All five now come running when the howling starts or they hear the can opener going.
While eating the food when he was sick, he managed to maintain the weight and his coat started to shine again.
The Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food was mild on his little stomach and didn't seem to cause an upset even when he was ill. There doesn't seem to be any extra waste in the litter box and the smell doesn't seem to be quite as strong after they go.
His recovery from his surgery was fast and that was attributed to feeding him a good quality food while he was ill.
Gonzo seems to love the taste of the Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food and so do the other four cats. It must smell ok to them but to me it really doesn't do anything for me. It has a rather strong smell.
The Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food seemed to help the overall health of Gonzo when he was ill and recuperating and now he has put a little of the weight back on that he had lost but not all of it.
I honestly believe that if you can get a sick cat to eat anything then it would probably work for a very finicky cat.
The Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food is a little more expensive than most of the on the shelf cat foods but the benefits of this food outweigh the price.
The Iams Chicken Formula Cat Food is available in my grocery store in three different sizes. 3-oz, 6-oz and 14-oz. We purchased the 14-oz size as we knew that the others would sneak in to grab a taste. There is a wide variety of flavors so there should be as least one flavor that you cat will enjoy.
