Pros: Keeps the reader's attention. Fast-Paced.
Cons: Exactly like all of Andrews' other books.
The Bottom Line: Go ahead, read it. It's a good book, well-written. Just be careful.

| jemmie211's Full Review: V. C. Andrews - If There Be Thorns |
While "If There Be Thorns" is an excellent read alone, when you stand it beside Andrews' other novels, you see they are exactly the same. Incest and abuse abound. This book appeals to our morbid fascination with detestable situations, but even this morbid fascination can weaken and die away altogether when there is no variety in the morbidity.
Don't get me wrong, when I did read Andrews, I read her religiously. And I thoroughly enjoyed "If There Be Thorns" and told friends to read it. I'll tell you to read it, too, but not if you plan on reading everything she's ever written about the Dollanger family. You'll find yourself completely bored if you do.
