Pros: Crystal clear, flat-screen, high refresh rates
Cons: heavy to lift, large desktop footprint
The Bottom Line: Bar none, the best combination of clarity, value, durability, and refresh rate -- all on a totally flat picture tube.

| Gamesmith's Full Review: iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 19 inch CRT Monitor |
I rotate hardware about every 18 months -- except for the monitor. So when I buy, I do a lot of research.
When I bought it twelve months ago, the Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 led the pack in clarity, refresh rates, and flat-screen real estate per dollar in all the professional reviews. And it still does, in my opinion.
I went to my local Central Computer (highly recommended for any SF Bay Area shopper, by the way; http://www.centralcomputer.com) to check it out, as they typically have the best prices and have a huge rack of display monitors so you can truly try before you buy.
No flicker. Rock solid. So flat, it looked concave at first.
Now, I can be pretty picky when it comes to refresh rates. Anything under 80 Hz, and I notice. The Vision Master Pro cranks out 85+ at all resolutions. No, I didn't stutter. ALL resolutions.
Given the price jump from 19" to 21" (or even to 20"), you really can't do better than this for cost-to-real-estate ratio. Even better, it's been completely reliable even in light of the fact that I regularly (1-2 times per month) pack it up and haul it 40 miles to a friend's house for LAN gaming parties.
Once you go Trinitron flat-screen, you will never go back. And this is an excellent entry to that world.
