Winnie the Pooh Singin' Wood Wagon was purchased for my daughter for her first birthday. Her love for Winnie the Pooh and my desire for her to develop hand, eye coordination prompted me to find this toy.
Actually, it is 3 toys in one. The wagon is made of wood with a few exceptions. The wheels and handle of the wagon are purple. The backbench where a soft plastic Pooh and four of his blocks sit are teal blue. The inside of the wagon where the real wood blocks sit is also teal blue. The plastic pieces are by no means flimsy, and all are sturdy and durable enough to withstand a three-year-old trying to ride in the tiny block carrying wagon.
Winnie the Pooh Singin' Wood Wagon comes with wooden blocks, all have the letters of the alphabet on them with pictures of favorite Pooh characters to help your child learn their A,B,C’s. They sit flat across the wagon surface and can be removed to play with separately.
The Back of the wagon dons Pooh with his hand in the air waving. Between his legs is a soft plastic block, and to his side are a few more blocks. When you move Pooh he asks if you can find certain pictured characters on the blocks. When you move the blocks sitting next to him, Pooh sings the alphabet. This part of the toy is removable. The batteries, 3 “AA” fit into this part on the back. They are held in place by a cover that is screwed into place.
The wagon can be used for other things, as well as the blocks and the removable back with the singing and questioning Pooh Bear. The most important feature on this product is the ON/OFF switch underneath Pooh. This is not a terribly loud toy though, so it will not make you insane if your child plays the songs or pushes Pooh for questions for hours on end.
This wagon is a cute toy, but it only held my child’s interest for a few minutes. She removed all the blocks, scooped them off and left the wagon behind. Now, blocks are scattered all over the house and honestly I couldn’t tell you where they are and if they will ever be seen again.
She does use the wagon on a daily basis. It has carried her dolls, her cars, the cats, and food from the living room to her room then back. It has been submerged in water, milk, and juice. Fortunately, Pooh sings and talks on…. Because I was never able to remove the backboard so I cannot change the batteries if they were to die today.
This wagon, without the blocks is not a lightweight toy. When the blocks are nested upon it, it is fairly heavy. The wagon’s pull handle is very small, so mostly small children would enjoy this cart. If my child grows any larger it will end up where all the old toys go, the storage room.
I do recommend this toy because it is interactive and educational. Regardless if your child plays with the toy as a whole, just the wagon, or just the blocks. It is multi-functional and most of my nieces love it. It is easy to clean; use a warm soapy rag on the wagon, and the blocks rinse off well with only water.
Winnie the Pooh Singin' Wood Wagon does not have small pieces so there is no worry of a choking hazard. I cannot recall the age recommendation by Mattel but I would dare to say it is safe for children 18 months and up.
This makes a perfect gift for those little discoverers, boys or girls. It is a tad bit expensive, but since it has so many practical uses it is worth every penny. I would not hesitate to buy this toy again as a gift for any toddler.
