I love my new iPod classic MP3 player. I take it with me in my car, to work and to the gym. However, I live in New England and it gets really cold. I needed to dress my iPod. I didn't want anything as outlandish as the rubber plastic devil outfit my son has for his iPod nano. I decided to go with black leather.
So step by step, here are my thoughts on the Incase iPod Classic Leather Sleeve Black ES86078
Incase
In case the iPod drops, this will protect it. Incase is also the name of the company that makes it, a clever play on words!
iPod Classic
Although the iPod classic is Not included with this $29.95 purchase (really, oh darn!), it is designed to fit the shape of the classic iPod. If you have a Nano, or an iTouch, don't worry, Incase has an outfit for your iPod too! There is an opening for the scroll wheel, the iPod connector, and the headphone jack. The screen area is clear plastic so you can see what you are doing. My one complaint is that if your headphone mini jack isn't thin, it won't fit through the hole intended for the headphones. My Koss Porta Pro headphones worked fine, but my Samson CH700 Studio Reference Monitors wouldn't fit through because the connector is too fat above the 1/4 inch jack. You either have to open the flap and plug it in, or really work at jamming it through the hole. Your iPod may not fit into a dock with the leather case either. I have to take my iPod out of this sleeve when I want to use it in my iPod Kicker.
Leather Sleeve
The sleeve is made of leather, except for the plastic piece for the viewing screen.
Black
This one is in classic black. I also saw it in brown. It has white stiching around the screen and dial. The black leather case means that your iPod will look stylish whether you are at a fund raiser with Bono or night clubbing with Rob Halford. It wouldn't be cool at a PETA convention with Chrissie Hynde and Maggie Q however. Hmm, perhaps I should have bought the Titanium iPod case, instead.
ES86078
That's the serial number I guess, I don't know.
Summary
If you want to protect your iPod classic, this black leather case by Incase is very nice. My iPod fits into it very nicely, and I am still able to operate it with ease. Most iPod style headphones that use mini jacks work fine with it.
