fiero_stimpy's Full Review: Infinity BassLink Car Subwoofer
I had a Basslink installed in my 94 Ford Crown Victoria, and I feel it is the perfect solution to getting great sound without breaking the bank or losing your trunk. I ordered the Basslink through an internet retailer off of eBay, and had it installed at my local Circuit City. I paid $200 for the Basslink and about $200 for the install, including the wiring kit. (I went overboard with a 4ga multi amp kit). Initially, I had the Basslink mounted underneath the rear parcel tray, and was extremely disappointed with the sound. After reading the manual again, I saw that Infinity recommends "corner loading" the unit. After relocating it to the far rear corner of my trunk, the sound improved dramatically.
Like other reviewers have said, this is not rear view mirror rattling bass. This is bass that makes every note sound meatier and fuller. I am also using Infinity Reference speakers throughout with a 75w per channel Alpine amp, and even at low volume, the sound is very clear and pleasant.
I am a bit surprised that the mounting brackets that are supplied are extremely cheesy, in that the long bolts that go through the body of the unit are not long enough to mount it upright. I actually had to resort to zipties to keep it secure.
