The Bottom Line: With or without aftermarket amplification, this set is very good without breaking the bank. I'm getting a set for my other vehicle!

I didn't want to buy an amp to power replacement speakers so 50Wx4 from my headunit was what I wanted to work with. Luckily, the 605CS component speaker set was efficient enough to play music as reasonably loud without clipping. The set seems to be of high quality and had most but not all of the hardware to mount them in the car. I had to provide small spade plugs as well as some wire and connectors. The woofer fit into the stock location without problem--these are not terribly deep so should fit most OEM installations. I mounted the tweeter on the door, opposite the side mirrors where there is a plastic plate. If you had a deeper pocket on the inside, they even have hardware to mount the tweeter at an adjustable angle. Some simple drilling was all that was required to make the mounting holes for both the tweeter and the passive crossover.
The sound was very dynamic with the woofers providing good punch for cones that appear to have modest magnet mass. Deep bass is NOT to be had but that is what subwoofers are for, eh? The tweeters are very smooth. However, even using the -3dB level, the tweeters were too loud. I can't even imagine any installation using unattenuated 0dB levels. It isn't optimal, but I had to use my headunit to decrease the high end--ideally, I would have liked to see the tweeters cut down by -6dB. Anyone know how to do that?
In any case, for less than $100 and 2 hours of my time, the speakers were a noticeable step up from my cheapo Blaupunkt coaxial speakers which were about the same price (a few years back) and were't much better than stock.
