Pros:Good Look and adjustability for a safe, comfortable helmet.

Cons:Doesn't come in Burnt Umber. (Just kidding) No cons, just a good helmet.

The Bottom Line: Without a good helmet, your just a silly person on a very expensive bike.

Ok, I do not pretend to be an expert in everything from soup to nuts but one thing that I do know about is biking. I spend more time on a bike than most people spend at their jobs for the simple fact that being on a bike is part of my job and they pay me to do it!!
That being said, when it was time to buy a helmet that would protect my noggin that I would also have to wear for at times up to 12 hrs. in any given weather I chose the Bell Influx for several reasons. First let me state right off the bat that money was no object because my employer gave us an allowance of $150 to purchase any helmet that we wanted, as long as it came in black. Now there were helmets that were $150 made by Bell as wells as other manufacturers, but most of which had some sort of gimmick associated with some aspect of the helmet to get you to say, “Hey that’s cool” and go for the big ticket. The Influx has a molded polycarbonate shell which is bonded to the foam lower portion forming a more "1 piece” design. This helmet has 18 large holes in it for very good ventilation so it does not make for a good place to wash your socks. The portion of the helmet that touches your head is well formed I guess for most heads, it has removable, replaceable pads and the yoke and chin strap are well designed, comfortable and very adjustable with what bell calls their “Cam Loc” system. You turn this little knob and it moves the back of the yoke up or down to suit your comfort, last years model did not have this feature and I feel that it was the helmets only drawback. The chin strap system that Bell provides is easy to adjust and has these little rubber keepers to deal with the excess length if you don’t care to cut it off.
The absolute most important thing you have to do is buy a helmet of whatever kind that fits properly. If your not sure have someone that knows inspect and adjust your helmet for you.
The Influx offers good, cheap protection. So after taking out the loan to buy the most expensive bike you can find, scrape together some money and buy a Influx so at least you'll be around until at least you pay it off.
