The Bottom Line: Brilliantly insane metal

"Inhuman Rampage" is the 3rd studio album released in 2006 by British power metal band, DragonForce. The line-up for the album was ZP Theart (vocals), Herman Li (guitar), Sam Totman (guitar), Adrian Lambert (bass), Dave Mackintosh (drums) and Vadim Pruzhanov (keyboards).

With lightning quick twin guitar solos, "Through the Fire and Flames" is an astoundingly amazing song. The album version actually contains a flaw, since one of Herman Li's guitar strings broke during recording. It was decided to keep that recording and add it. The lyrics can be seen as fantasy, or as man's epic quest to battle evil for the good of all humanity. Either way, the lyrics are as brilliant as the music.

"Operation Ground and Pound", with a run time of 7 minutes, 45 seconds, is another great example of the talent contained within DragonForce. The magic Sam Totman and Herman Li work with their guitar duets is more amazing than mere words can describe. The addition of machine gun fire drumming takes the song to the brink of insanity.

I can't praise this album enough. I don't remember the last time an album made me sit on the edge of my seat and take notice like this one did. Each song on the album is technically brilliant, played with skill. With a touch of glam, mixed with a whole lot of speed metal, it is like the 80's on speed. I recommend this album highly, to anyone looking for the next level of metal. DragonForce definitely deliver when it comes to power metal.
