I love my cats and have been on a quest to learn about cat nutrition and the best foods to feed my felines. I was one of those owners who thought I was feeding my cats something great by giving them Purina, Friskies, Chef's Blend, etc. I didn't understand why people paid SO MUCH MONEY for pet food when my cats were happy and healthy enough. I have gone from feeding food that costs $6/bag to that which costs $35/bag. What caused my change of heart?

Feline Nutrition
Cats have evolved to become MEAT EATERS! When was the last time you saw a lion, tiger, or cat eat vegetables or a salad? Most of the cheap cat foods available at WalMart or grocery stores contain grains like corn or wheat as their primary ingredients. Cats do not have the enzymes to properly digest these carbohydrates. Grain-based foods are responsible for diarrhea, skin allergies, obesity, ear infections, etc. Cheap foods also tend to use disgusting by-products (feathers, diseased lungs, eyes, intestines, etc.) as a main protein source. Unfortunately, the inexpensive cat foods that people love to feed (me included) are just so inappropriate and unhealthy for our beloved pets.

Cats need foods that have good-quality protein sources as the main ingredient: chicken meal, turkey meal, chicken, turkey, duck, etc. They don't need grains or cereals in their food nor do they need disgusting leftover body
parts.

The best diet for my cats is a raw meat diet but they are 3 years old and just aren't open to eating meat chunks off the bone. They have refused to buy into a raw diet thus far and that's why I was so excited about Innova EVO! It's raw-meat based and contains no grains.

Yes it seems super-expensive but you will find that your cats eat much less of this food than the cheap stuff. They get so much more nutrition from this formula that they need only a fraction of the food as compared to the inexpensive food that contains mostly fillers which will pass right through your cat. The 15 pound bag lasts me almost a month and that's with between 4 and 7 adult cats here at any given time.

Did It Work For My Cats?
They LOVE it! Their coats are super-soft and shiny. They are more active and playful than ever. This is a very rich food and I was afraid that it would cause diarrhea or gas, but there were no problems in that department even though I abruptly switched them to this food exclusively. They are in excellent health and they love eating their food. I love knowing that I am offering them the best possible nutrition available for them at present since they refuse a complete raw diet. One of my cats is a fatty and she has lost weight on this high protein (fewer undigestable carbs!) diet. The others are maintaining their weights and look beautiful.

I asked my vet what he thought about this food and he had never heard of it before. Unfortunately, vets aren't really knowledgeable about pet nutrition and tend to recommend well-known but lower-quality brands like Purina and Science Diet. I wound up explaining the reasoning behind raw diets and Innova EVO to the vet and several techs. A couple of the techs asked me to write down the name so they could purchase some of this food for their own pets. The vet could only conclude that this product does good things for cats, based on the health, weight, and skin/coat conditions of my pets.

I will feed this food for as long as it is available and I can afford it. Innova EVO is truly the best dry cat food that I've ever used.
