When we got our Sony PSP in the summer of '05, I immediately started looking for a protective storage case. I always buy storage cases right away, as handheld game systems tend to get knocked around quite easily. The storage case I decided on for the PSP was the Intec Leather Case.
Product Details:
The Intec Leather Case for PSP is made from smooth black leather and is rectangular in shape with rounded corners at the bottom. It measures 7.25" long and just over 3.5" wide. It has a black leather top flap that has a snap closure that is also magnetized. Just under the flap is a small chrome piece attached to the case that says Intec in black.
This case has a silver metal loop attached to both sides for the included black wrist strap, which is also black. Because there is a loop on each side, you can attach the wrist strap to either side. On the back of the case is a 2.25" long black leather loop that I assume is for attaching to a belt. This loop is very close to the case and is almost flush with the case. It's not a loop that sticks out far, and any belt that it is attached to would have to be no more than about 1/8" thick and 1.75" wide.
My Experience:
I was looking for a basic, protective storage case. I also wanted the case to be black (not purple, not pink, not blue). Those of us in our 30's who are still addicted to video games after all these years struggle to find games, game storage and system storage that doesn't look it belongs to a child, so when I came across this basic black storage case, I knew it would be mine.
Some of the older cases I have for my older systems (Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy Color, etc.) are made from thick nylon material trimmed in a different color - these already look somewhat dated and I'm sorry I didn't buy something more basic. However, even as recent as five years ago, the selection of storage case can be best described as slim pickings. Finding a non-nylon, leather case was a pleasant surprise, even though this Intec Leather Case for PSP has a very basic, generic look.
The inside of this case has just enough room for the PSP system. The PSP slides in but does not have room to move. It's not a tight fit, but is just snug enough. I would not want it to be any more snug and I wouldn't want there to be any more room in the case. There is no game storage, no pockets and no zipper compartments in or on this case. This is a case for those who want to just store their PSP system in the cabinet in a protective case so that it does not get harmed. I fit into that category of people - I don't want a case with bells and whistles. Our PSP games are stored in their plastic cases in the same cabinet, so game storage in the case is not necessary. We also don't really travel with the PSP, so this makes game storage even more unnecessary.
We've had this Intec Leather Case for PSP for nearly a year and a half now. It still looks brand new. However, children don't play with it, the dog doesn't get ahold of it, it doesn't get sun or water exposure. It basically just sits in the cabinet. It has been opened and closed many times, and it is still in new condition. I've even dropped this case with the PSP inside the case, and the PSP was not harmed. I don't worry about the PSP being harmed at all, because the leather is pretty thick and this is a sturdy case. I expect to be able to use this case for the entire life of the PSP.
Those looking for a fancier case or a case with game storage, charger storage, etc. will not want this case. This one is for those who want to just protect their PSP from getting knocked around and possibly use it for transporting it from place to place or attaching it to a belt loop. It's not a flimsy case, and has held up well for us. We don't use the wrist strap, but it appears to be a quality strap that would hold up well.
Price and Purchasing Information:
I purchased my Intec Leather Case for PSP at Target for about $13. I have not seen this case there since then, but then again a lot of video game accessories at Target seem to be there one day and gone the next, only to be replaced by a new version or another brand.
