macheske's Full Review: Intel Pentium® III, 1.4 GHz (BX80530C1400512)...
I bought a flip chip Pentium III 800 about a month ago. I used to have an AMD 400. I've used Intel, AMD and Cyrix chips in the past. I won't get anything but Intel anymore. I had so many little problems with the AMD it was driving me up a wall. The problems were associated with the chipset used to support the AMD, not really the AMD processor itself but it all comes down to system crashes. On the AMD I had to configure quite a few settings and had to become a real expert on how the motherboard worked. I guess I never really became one. With the Pentium III it was a matter of installing the board and letting Windows configure itself. I've never had a crash... knock on wood. If you don't have the time to research every little setting I'd recommend getting an Intel processor and a motherboard that has been around for awhile (I got a BX chipset). The price on the 800 was very reasonable as well. I've very happy with my purchase and my system screams. Now I only need a fast internet connection... aaarrrr, aaaarrrrrrr, aaaaaarrrrrr.
