Good question. Now that you mention it, my pad has developed a sunken area in the middle. It's not yet bad enough to warrant returning the pad, for I can just shift to either side (easy when one sleeps alone).

I don't know if this compression problem is typical for memory foam pads; if it is, prospective buyers may prefer to invest in a whole new mattress, if they can afford it, that is.

Cheers,
Wayne

The one negative review on this mattress topper says that within a year, the areas on which she and her husband slept had flattened out. Not covered by warranty. I'd be interested in knowing how waynio's has held up!

Well, stocko, at least you're getting a good night's sleep for a change. That's worth a lot.

To everyone else, I'm pleased to report that my Isotonic pad is now virtually odor-free. And it's still very comfortable. Hooray!

Cheers,
Waynio

Re: When did you get your isotonic pad? (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for the compliment. I wrote this review only a few days after receiving the Isotonic pad, so I've been sleeping on it for about a week now. I'll wash my sheets soon and see if that removes the last traces of plastic smell; fortunately it's not really an issue for me anymore.

I get minor backaches myself and visit a chiropractor for regular adjustments, so this pad has been very helpful for getting a full night's sleep. At night I still make subtle shifts to find the ideal positions, but once I do, ZZZZZ!

However there are other brands, and I'm not in a position to compare them all. For ex., I've read that the Tempur-Pedic version is 1 inch thicker, but not quite as soft as the Isotonic. I imagine that persons heavier than myself (150 lbs) might flatten out the Isotonic's 2" more completely and then have to contend with their harder underlying mattress at key points.

I'd recommend that any online shopper visit competing sites to make comparisons. You may even find a better deal than I did.

Sweet dreams,
Wayne

When did you get your isotonic pad? (Reply to this comment)
by usanalife
I was wondering how long you've had yours. We bought a very expensive nice Haggas mattress set about 8 years back and I've hardly slept in it for the past 2 years cause I wake up in such pain. We can't afford another mattress set and are hoping that the Isotonic topper/overlay pad will do the trick.
Thanks for the review. I hope more will right reviews about these kinds of mattress pads.

Memory foam is truly a miraculous material. I wish I'd gotten this pad years ago - the difference between this and my unyielding futon is like day & night. No doubt it's a godsend for people with backaches!

Sweet dreams,

Really nice job on this review!

I've got the Isotonic Mattress, and absolutely love it! There is no motion transfer at all, and the comfort is amazing. Glad you like your Isotonic pad.

Thanks again for the great review :)

I liked the way you used the ceiling fan with the windows open to try to rid the scent of this pad.

I am in Los Angeles and nice to know some good can come from the Santa Ana Winds.

Today it is to be another 80 degree day. Windows and fans are going here as well.
