Pros: Great Product made of superior materials, brand recognition makes it easy to price shop.
Cons: Too Expensive-many variations out there. Shop around. Feel it.
The Bottom Line: There may be other brands made of the same materials that do not carry such a high price tag. Do some research before you buy.

| tam189's Full Review: Isotonic Foam Mattress Pad |
"Isotonic" is one brand name of a mattress pad products made of the fiber "polyeurethane" which is fashioned into a product commonly called "viscoelastic foam", "memory foam", visco foam", etc.
Carpenter Co. makes "Viscolux", "Omalon", and "Qualtex" which are trade names of a some foams in this category.
The Carpenter Co. says it makes three different "viscoelastic foams". (they do not give the trade names or any technical details of which is made from which or which is better, softer, firmer, etc, or if any difference at all, on their website yet).
They say they make three types of vsco elastic foam to manufacture the brands "Isotonic®.", "Structure" and "Comfort Zone" products.
This material makes a wonderful mattress topper. It is so soft and cushiony, luxurious and comforting. It relives the pain in my arm and hips from sleeping on my side on a too hard mattress that has lost it's pillow top cushion after a few years of use.
The Isotonic mattress pad is the most well known brand, and the most expensive mattress topper brand made form this material at about 200.00 at Bed, Bath and Beyond-in a 2" depth. The 2" model is soft, flexible, responsive and durable.
I have tried both the Isotonic in a 2" depth and the Structure in a 2" depth and I cannot detect much difference in the density of the material, springback properties, color, texture, weight, smell, etc. Both brands have the exact same chemical stench, but I expect it to fade after a while, just like new carpet pad smell fades.
The only difference between the two appears to be in the design of the pad, and the price. The Isotonic is of solid design, and the Structure pad is a grid design. The price of Isotonic about 200.00 at Bed Bath Beyond, the price of Structure was about 70.00 at Stein Mart. I have not seen the Structure brand pad anywhere else but I have not looked that hard. I tried both but kept the Structure brand because it was so much less expensive and performed the same as the 200.00 Isotonic brand.
Good Luck!
Update: I have had it 2 weeks now and the chemical smell has faded away.
After a brief adjsutment period, I sleep more soundly and less hours needed to feel rested. My husband says he really likes it too. I hope it makes him get better sleep since he works long hours, gets only 6 hours sleep regularly due to 4 day work schedule and long commute, so he needs good deep sleep to function.
Sometimes I feel it is a little warmer sleeping on this topper than without it, but it has not been a big problem yet. We shall see how it is in the heat of summer.
