| mzemel's Full Review: Iza Trapani - Itsy Bitsy Spider |
I'm sure many, if not all of you are familiar with the children's fingerplay "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider". I know this is one of my daughter's favorites, so imagine my delight when Grandma bought her Iza Trapani's "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider". Rebecca immediately climbed up into Grandma's lap and they began to read.
"The Itsy-Bitsy Spider, climbed up the water spout..." all the way until the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider climbed up the spout again." Imagine my surprise as my mother continued on to another verse. "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider climbed up the kitchen wall". With six verses in all, this very ambitious spider continues climbing up the yellow pail, up the rocking chair, up the maple tree, and up without a stop.
Because this book is written in verse form you have the option of just reading the story to your toddler, or singing the song. Once familiar with all the new verses, you can "read" the book wherever you are.
I have since found out that Iza Trapani has written other books such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb". Since Rebecca and I enjoy this book so much, we will be sure to at least check these other books out of our local library.
