| emiejo's Full Review: Ivar's Acres of Clams |
I remember first going to Ivar's on the pier when I was 16 years old....ahem, 16 years ago. I was a Montana native and hadn't been to the sound before this day. While visiting friends in Carnation....they took my family and I to the waterfront. After hours of poking in every incredible shop, we were ravenous. Jack, our Seattle tour guide, and very good friend, let us to Ivars. At the time, it was little more than a hole in the wall....but even then always busy and one could expect a line.
But every minute is worth the wait once you bite into that crispy white fish and hot fries. Ivars also has absolutely the BEST tartar sauce.
Anyway....years later, my husband and I moved to the Seattle area and as a special day for our family...we would follow that same path of walking into every shop, riding the Carrosel (sp), the aquarium...then off to Ivars on the pier.
The seagulls are fabulous and if you stand at the railing and hold out a fry, they will swoop down and take it right out of your hand!
The view is great at anytime during the day....sunset of course is breathtaking.
It is a little spendy at around $20 for two people but really the best batter fried fish you'll ever eat.
My personal favorites are the fish basket and the clam strip basket. You'll be very full as hey really give generous portions for the money.
If you want a sit down type, fancier restaraunt, there is another Ivars around the corner. They have a full menu...with a special of the day, and several fresh catch deals. I have eat there as well and loved the lemon pepper flounder with the steamed veggies.
At either Ivars, you'll get great service and enjoy every bite!
Thanks for Reading!!
