Pros: Original 99 44/100% PURE. SIMPLE. NATURALLY CLEAN. is good.
Cons: New "Simply Ivory" with hint of fragrance in text STINKS of fragrance.
Ivory soap has recently been changed. The old bars shown in the picture are being changed on store shelves by new bars, which are labeled "Simply Ivory." In the script text just above this new name, it indicates that these new bars have a light hint of fragrance. The old bar soap wrapping said "99 44/100% PURE. SIMPLE. NATURALLY CLEAN."
We have purchased Ivory soap for years BECAUSE it had no perfume fragrance. Fragrance causes my wife to get sick. When we bought this new wrapping, we didn't notice the reference to fragrance in the script text description, but when we put a bar of this new soap in the bathroom, both my wife and I immediately smelled the fragrance. It's a lot more than a hint. We had to discard 12 bars of bath soap.
When asked an online question about the new bar soap, an Ivory soap representative answered that then new soap is unchanged and is the "same formula." They are probably technically correct if only SOAP constituents are being referred to. But the Ivory soap representative's answer was deceptive and misleading to those of us who bought Ivory soap BECAUSE it was FREE of FRAGRANCE. I suspect that the company took the 99 44/100% pure off the new label because it was no longer consistent with the 19th century chemical analysis of their ingredients. I sent an email to the Ivory soap, a product of Proctor and Gamble, indicating that I thought their response was misleading and complaining about the new added fragrance. I did not receive a reply from them.
In any case, if you are looking for a fragrance free bar of soap, DO NOT BUY IVORY BAR SOAP.
