| dsyg's Full Review: JBL N38II Main / Stereo Speaker |
I´ve been up and down for three months looking for a "low end audiophile" speaker until I came across JBL N28 (yes, 28). I really loved the sound of those bookshelves, that I would dare to compare with the B&W 601 S3 (only much better imaging and soundstage for the british). Then I thought the N38II floorstander would keep all the qualities of the N28 plus some extra bass capacity. I finally purchased the N38II and I´m very satisfied.
I would describe the sound as bright and VERY detailed. Mids and highs are very present, and bass is tight and clearly audible. Still haven´t worked much on the soundstage arena, even though my listening room is not particularly suited for great results.
In summary these are great speakers for the price. To me they sound better than more expensive Paradigms and Polks. If you also consider decoration, they look really nice with their grill off. If floorstanding is not a must for you, I also recommend the N28.
Finally, yes, $600.- for a pair is a good price in Argentina
