| neilkn's Full Review: JBL N38II Main / Stereo Speaker |
We paired these speakers with the JBL S-Center and a Denon 1803 receiver to give us a really good front stage experience. The 3/4" Titanium laminate tweeter provides a good sounding high frequency. The 4" midrange and 8" woofer handle their ranges with respective ease and provide a good clear, yet full sound. With a frequency response of 45 Hz to 20,000 Hz, these speakers handle almost the full range of sound audible to the human ear. They are equally suitable for music and home theater application. The 5 year manufacturer's warranty from JBL is a good indication of JBL's faith in their product.
These speakers provide 5-way binding posts for the connection of speaker wires. This allows the use of bare wire, pin/bayonet, spade, or banana plug connectors.
My wife set these speakers to Large in the receiver configuration, and disabled the subwoofer to see if she would get a full sound without the rumbling of the subwoofer, an attempt to see if we could watch late-night movies without annoying downstair neighbors. When she came to the first explosive scene of Star Wars II, she was scrambling for the remote to turn down the volume. These speakers rocked the house, providing all the special effects that were set into the movie, and a full movie theater experience. They performed quite admirably.
