| munchkin's Full Review: JBL S412P Main / Stereo Speaker |
I recently got my first post-college job and was outfitting my first "real" apartment. While I'm not exactly made of money right now, I wanted to get away from that "it was my parent's couch", or "I got this at a scratch-n-dent sale" look.
I was shopping for new speakers for my living room. I wasn't too demanding, I wanted rich, full sound, but I also wanted attractive speakers that would complement my new "decor". I know you are probably wondering about my priorities.
My brother mentioned these JBL speakers to me, he said they sound great, they aren't too expensive, and best of all they come in a beech finish (a nice, light wood finish). This was so refreshing since I didn't want black speakers again. So, I went to Best Buy to listen to them, but all they had were the black ones. After calling around to various stores, I found two stores that each had *one* speaker. Don't ask me why they each had only one, I never did figure that out.
So I went to check out the beech finish speakers. They are a beautiful light wood with black, copper, and silver accents. There were two things I didn't like, one was the flimsiness of the cloth screen covering the speakers, and the other was the fragilness of the feet. Other than that, though, they sound great, look beautiful, and give me what I want in speakers without being an eyesore. Needless to say, I did purchase them and haven't regretted it one bit.
