daperlman's Full Review: JBL SP6 Main / Stereo Speaker
I don't know very much about speakers. One thing that I did know is that I needed some for my surround sound home theater. As I went looking and surfed the web for a good deal, I could not believe my eyes. The prices were astronomical. The kinds of speakers that I had heard about were average $300 per pair. That means $600 per room...then the subwoofer...then the center channel. I tried save a little by looking around for discount brands like such as Bic America, and knock-offs. However with shipping these were still $100-200 per pair. So I made that my new goal, and then I found these for $130 with free shipping.
Sound Quality
Now it was time to visit different retail locations and listen to the choices that I had it narrowed down to head to head. First I went to Kenwood outlet, there I was very impressed with an 8" 3 way pair of in wall's (they unfortunately wouldn't fit). Now I had to narrow my choices to 6" or less. I then went to Radio Shack, Best Buy, and HiFi Buys to listen to Boston Acoustics. I went ahead and ordered these online and they sounded just as crisp as the $300/ Pair 2-way Boston Acoustics. When you read the specs on these they don't sound that impressive, but I am telling you they are darn good speakers.
Installation
Since my drywall was already up, this was kind of a pain. However, if you are going to rough-in the speaker b/f the drywall is up, JBL will send you the equipment in the package.
