Pros: Great sound quality - makes watching movies a different experience, sturdy as well
Cons: I can't think of any
The Bottom Line: Recommended. Unless you're into the super tiny speakers, or this speaker won't fit in your furniture (like me), I would get one in a heartbeat.

| mattmeitzner's Full Review: JBL S-Center Center Speaker |
To pair with my JBL S-310 speakers, I bought an S-Center center channel. From the reviews Id read online, it sounded like the center channel is the most important speaker for watching TV, which is what I do most from my system. Once I got this speaker home and hooked up to my AV receiver, what a difference it made. The voices on movies became much clearer, and there was no directionality to the voices. A big improvement.
Another nice feature of this speaker is that its completely magnetically shielded. Id used another center channel in the past which claimed to be magnetically shielded, but when I put it on top of my TV, there was still some color distortion. Not so with the S-center. There was no sign that it was even on top of the TV, other than the improved sound.
The S-center is also pretty resilient. While I wouldnt necessarily recommend trying this, on more than one occasion the speaker fell from the top of the TV; once about 1.5 feet onto the TV table, and once about 3 feet onto the floor. Maybe this is why JBL made this speaker out of plastic rather than the other S-series speakers which are wood, but it held up very well. Of course I listened very closely after each fall to see if it was damaged, but in neither instance could I tell any difference in sound quality (and there was only one small scuff from the larger fall)
The last thing I have to say about this speaker is that it holds its value. When I bought this speaker in 2001, I paid about $130 for it from an online retailer, on sale. I recently sold it on an online auction site for $135, after getting five good years out of it.
