I recently purchased the JBL S-Center channel speaker. Mine is the S II which has grey colored drivers = not the yellow drivers pictured. I don't know if there are any other differences between the two models. I use mine with a 100W/channel Pioneer Amp. It sounds nice with my Bose tower front speakers. I will be adding some JBL surrounds shortly. I opted for the S series center over the N series mainly to get the larger tweeter. The speaker sounds great and looks good too. For home theater use it is great. It is very clear and natural sounding. The enclosure is not too heavy so I'm not afraid to put it on top of my TV.
I think it compares favorably with some much more expensive speakers. I auditioned some paradigms and thought it compares nicely especially considering the low price.
