Good Jointer with smooth cutting. Could have a better fence.

Pros: Good Heavy Construction. No vibration. Quiet operation.
Cons: Fence is hard to manipulate. Bolts to lock fence break easily.
The Bottom Line: Good cabinet jointer for the money. Could have a more durable and easier adjusting fence. I would recommend this tool to a friend.

The Jet cabinet jointer pictured is a good overall machine with quiet induction motor and a heavy cast iron bed. I got mine for Christmas 2000 and have used it extensively. I work in red oak and this jointer provides beautiful flat edges for glue-ups. The only real problem I have had with the jointer is the fact that one of the bolts which locks the fence has broken. I have not contacted Jet to get a replacement yet. I will follow up on how that goes. The knives took a little time to adjust, but that was the only thing that wasn't set up when the unit was delivered. All I had to do for set up was clean the grease off the cast iron bed and attach the jointer to the cabinet. Even with the fence problems, I still believe this is one of the better jointers on the market.
