I have a friend who works in the back office downtown and they have not said anything to her about it. Also, I have a commercial banking contact who came to Bank One when they bought out First Chicago who earlier bought out American Mational Bank and she told me she thinks she's ok.
Chase didn't have much of a presence in Chicago, so I'm pretty hopeful for the people in the branches, especially with Bank One (now Chase) aggressively opening more.
The back office is another matter.

They actually merged over a year ago (still recent though!), and if I remember correctly, the customer service was one of the main assets JP Morgan Chase wanted to gain out of the merger. For those of us in Chicago who know or have family members that work there, there's been some tension about what this would mean outside of rebranding. The restructuring has sent some people I know off to bigger and better things, others completely confused about their future.
I'm also hoping that they will be able to do more charitable giving here in Chicago and create a charitable giving program that really works and doesn't just look good on paper. The jury's still out on that.
In any case, great review of an important new product here in Chicago!

Glad you are happy with your bank. As a former banker, I am dismayed to see how many negative reviews come down the pipe.
