Pros: Lots of features, including oversized LCD viewfinder and digital camera functionality
Cons: Eats too much power; can be an ergonomic nightmare; no A/V in
The Bottom Line: Most of what the serious amateur video producer needs; just make sure you try it out for comfort first.

I picked this camera out without giving much thought to its ergonomics, and that was probably a bad move. It's a pretty good unit otherwise -- excellent quality viewfinder, a substantial library of special effects, perfect compatibility with iMovie (my editing platform of choice), though the lack of A/V in for video capture hurts given the price paid for it.
The problem is the shape -- even after adjusting the hand strap, the record button is a bit too high for the thumb if the fingers can reach the other controls, and vice versa. It's not insurmountable, but I could see hand cramping being an issue. It took, I thought, more practice than necessary to master one-handed operation.
The controls can be a bit complex, too, especially the remote, which really needs a read of the manual to understand. They aren't impossible to deal with, though. The size of the unit is a bit small as well, but reasonable (I don't like them too small -- nothing to keep them stable).
