shodan504's Full Review: JVC HA-F130B Consumer Headphones
Let me tell you a story about the WORST ear bud style headphones I have ever tried.
Did I mention that these are the WORST ever?
I did some comparison shopping when the headphones that came with my Ipod Nano started crackling. It became so annoying in my left ear I knew I needed new ones.
I began to do some research to find some new ones. I wanted decent but low cost because I am cheap. That ruled out the Apple ones right off that bat. As I perused Amazon.com for the headphones I realized that many of these companies are awful proud of their headphones. $100+ for things that allow me to listen to my podcasts and radio shows is just absurd.
I had decided on the good old fashioned earbuds over the ones that actually go into your ear canal because to me that is kind of creepy.
I narrowed the choice down, and despite some reviewers that said the headphones were a little too big, I went ahead and ordered the Pink version of the Gumy Earbud Headphones by JVC. There were plenty of other brands that had complaints about the size, so I assumed there were some people out the with tiny ears. I am not one of those people.
I anxiously awaited the arrival of my new earbuds, and when they arrived I proceeded to open the outer box, and then of course, the packaging for the earbuds.
As I opened the package I noted the color of the buds. The pink was outstanding, exactly what I wanted, not too light, not too dark. The white of the cord and the plug was actually kind of grey so I was a little disappointed there, but no biggie. The other disappointment was that the plug was bent, not straight like the apple earbuds, but I knew that before I bought them.
The next thing that struck me nearly made me gag. THEY HAD A SMELL, AND THEY SMELLED LIKE MEAT. Yes, I said meat. It was pretty strong and really gross. My spirit was not daunted however, I figured I'd air them out overnight and the smell would subside.
No such luck. The next morning they smelled just as bad. I bit the bullet, however, and took them with me to work, and decided to try them out. As I walked around, certain that everyone I passed by was wondering "what's that smell?", I realized almost immediately that the buds were either 1. way too big, or 2. way the wrong shape for human ears; or some combination of the two. Again, undaunted, I figured I'd get used to them.
Let me say that the sound quality of these was quite good. I only listen to podcasts and radio shows, but the sound was better than the Apple ones that came with my Ipod.
Three days later I could no longer stand to wear them my ears were so incredibly sore. They ended up in the trash and I bought a pair of Sony for $3 more that fit perfectly. They're green, not my beloved pink, but my ears are no longer sore and there's the added benefit of not smelling like liver sausage!
