Good Update (Reply to this comment)

The clarification helps a lot, since we never want to confuse the casual shopper/browser. The rest of the review is pretty solid, especially for a vcr.

Re: More research explains JVC numbering scheme-same electronics (Reply to this comment)

Nice update and it was important to mention the model number difference. I will tell you though that you still need to email the leads and have it added. It seems ridiculous but black iPod owners cannot review white iPods here. Seriously email the person below and move your review to the appropriate product page. It is a very helpful review on a different model.

More research explains JVC numbering scheme-same electronics (Reply to this comment)

2 reviewers said this review was off-topic. I'll add more comments on other functionality to round out the review if that's what's missing. I'd appreciate finding out what makes this review off-topic.
If the concerns are related to the product model number, let's resolve that issue. I did do some further research to pin this down. The review will apply whether or not there's a B or S appended (JVC uses that to indicate Silver or Black color), or, for that matter, if there's a "US" appended after the B or S color code. (That appears to mean the DVD part of the player is precoded with region 1 for DVD copy protection, unlike what's needed for international markets in different regions.)
I pulled the basic model number off the front of the equipment: it says HR-XVC19. The manual that came with my player refers to it more specifically as the XVC19SUS. This manual can be seen online at the address (with the http in front of it) books.jvcservice.com/download/441706323/37055.pdf
This particular model is hard to find on the JVC website without searching using Google, but it's there at
www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027534&pathId=10&page=1
Note that it's listed as "too new" to have a picture, even though I've had this several months now.
Even though it was available in 2005, it wasn't listed in the currently-available 2005 catalog from JVC. But in perusing that catalog, you can see clearly that in every model category, they append a B or S to the model number if they have variations for silver or black. That catalog is at
www.jvc.com/support/brochures/video/2005DigitalVideo.pdf
In short, if there's concern over the model number, I'll put in some comments about the JVC numbering scheme.
Please let me know.

You can suggest (Reply to this comment)

that your particular model be added to the epinions database by emailing an electronics lead like symbiosis at symbiotic_feedback@yahoo.com
They're pretty quick at adding products.
