VISUAL:
I love the way this CD receiver fits my life. I have a Honda Civic sedan with a black dash that really needed some visual interest. The design of the face is such that the silver is an accent an not a tacky nuisance, and it sets off the black in a tasteful way. At night, the colors this thing puts out is amazing, filling the car with light especially on dark country roads. I don't like the silly demo. I could be so much cooler if it were designed to be something you could use all the time rather than this promo for JVC... Hey JVC, I don't need any more tricks... I already bought the thing!
CD Playback:
The thing never skips. I live in Chicago where construction never ceases, and the player never skips. Even CD's that are scratched and don't play well in my home stereo don't skip in the car. Amazing, and that is without them boasting about ESP technology.
MP3:
I don't do MP3's yet, but I got this receiver for when I do.
EQ's:
The EQ's are just OK. I can't find one that really suits my musical tastes, but their R&B eq is darn close. After I upgrade to Pioneer 3way speakers I'll tinker with the user presets. Suggestion: crank up the sup-bass option to 3 or 4 even if you don't have a woofer as it will fill out the sound incredibly more.
Controls:
Idiot proof, and tasteful. Everything feels solid compared to some cheaper brand flimsy buttons that feel like I could sneeze them off if I weren't careful. Feel is definitely important to me and this feels right.
Misc:
Radio is great (does anyone still listen to the radio?) and the thing generates enough sound to hurt me bad if I'm not careful. My friends all like it too. It can be tempermental on a cold morning... oh wait, that's me. But sometimes it will think for a few seconds before ejecting the CD. No biggie.
Buy this thing if you want cool colors, nice style, good sound, and a remote.
