Pros: Eye catching, good amount of features, sub out, remote
Cons: Average (below IMO) build quality, sound quality isn't the best, face played up on mine
The Bottom Line: Look elsewhere. However, JVC have moved on so their new units might be better quality... Hopefully.

| screwge's Full Review: JVC KD-LH2000 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
I bought this unit a couple of years ago now and installed it myself. I got it for the price of AU$600 when it was listed for AU$700. It wasn't a bad deal at the time...
The player itself is one FLASHY, aesthetically pumping unit!! I'm going to be honest, I can almost definitely say that everyone who sat in my car mentioned it saying how "cool" it was. Hey, and it does look pretty good with the different colours fading in and out and the movie demos animating.
Sound wise? Nah uh. How can I say it... Crappy. But hey, most people who I said that to thought I was a bit crazy. However, once compared to cheaper, more basic units people could actually tell the difference.
Let's see, I ran brand new Pioneer speakers and Pioneer amps. Power wasn't lacking, that's for sure. However, the quality lacked badly. Highs? Basically none. And this is even in comparison to my friends' systems and my deck tuned and tweaked with the equalizer. e.g. base Pioneer decks with stock speakers, base Pioneer deck with Kenwood (yurk) speakers, mid Alpine deck with pretty decent speakers etc and mine lagged behind ALL of them! Sound quality that is, it did pump loudly with Infinity 6*9 speakers though (and amp of course).
I'll throw in another positive. Features are great. Sub out, equalizer, MP3 display, changing the font etc all the usual features you would desire for a unit in this price range.
After my time with this unit, it eventually had issues with the face. The display wouldn't show up some times, and I had to push it and wiggle it around to try and get it to sit perfectly (I'm not what you'd call a dummy either, so putting it in was done correctly).
To cut the story short, it's now sold (thankfully) and I await my Alpine 9835 head unit - mmm sound quality and build quality here I come!
To conclude, it's basically obsolete anyway. So I don't think this review will be of much help :) But anyway, if you have an ear and eye for quality, look else where. e.g. Eclipse, Alpine, Clarion etc However, if you're after fancy displays and a fair amount of features and can't usually tell the difference between 128kb vs 256kb MP3s for example, then it's a generally a good unit all round.
