Pros: Soothes and softens. Good for men who don't want to smell girlie.
Cons: Free of added fragrance, but if you like to smell girlie, you won't.
The Bottom Line: Recommend because it works extra hard for overexposed hands.

I don't have a clue why I bought this men's product. It doesn't look feminine, it doesn't smell feminine, and what kind of woman's product campaign uses words like "roadtested" ? None that I can think of, but a visit to the Jack Black brand website for superior skincare for GUYS will tell you this product was roadtested by golfers, carpenters, and chefs. A hardworking hand cream for hardworking men! I'm neither a man, nor hardworking, but tell that to my hands because all of a sudden they've been dry, red, and chapped. Desperate times call for desperate measures and so I tried Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer. (I can't help but think this must have appeared in some fashion magazine and left an impression on me)
The packaging reminds me of something you'd find in the medicine chest of a man who likes to shave old school with shave soap, a mug, and brush. No one is going to mistake the masculine packaging of sapphire blue and black as something that belongs in a purse. The scent fits a masculine profile too, mild but definitely male, like shave soap, or not too perfumed shave cream. Ladies, bear with me, I promise, it gets better.
The 3 oz tube is plastic, with a plastic twist off cap, and a pin hole opening to dispense product. I think of this as a balm because it is indeed soothing, immediately, although it looks like any other white lotion. It's thick --- about the consistency of cream cheese frosting, but it's really easy to squeeze out of the pin hole opening. I like to get creative and make squiggly lines on each hand and then massage it in, or of course you can just make a pile of product in the palm of your hand. They recommend a nickel size amount and that sounds about right to me.
Too much is really too much. Jack Black's Industrial Strength Hand Healer is non greasy and absorbs quickly, but if you use too much, the excess doesn't penetrate and starts to feel almost waxy. Don't worry about getting it right --- it's not a big deal and you'll catch on. Worst case you wipe off the leftover cream with a tissue. The good news is that it instantly soothes and softens my hands without leaving an oily residue, weird shiny skin, or having to wait impatiently for an icky sticky feeling to subside. The relief and smoother hands are long lasting, even withstanding a handwashing without feeling the need to reapply.
I don't really like the way Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer smells, but I like the relief it provides when sometimes, despite my near veal like existence, my hands rebel. Or, in October when it might be mild during the day, but I forget to dress sensibly for my son's night soccer game, even though I've reminded him to bring Underarmour "just in case". I use this when I need to pull out the big guns, and although I still prefer more luxe products, I can't deny how well it works. It may be made for a man, but I like it too! (sorry)
Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer does just that and I would recommend this 4 star product to any man or woman. Particularly those for whom work or play may contribute to chapped dry hands. Good for healthcare professionals who must constantly wash their hands, and while we're at it, the rest of us who should be! Anyone hear of the H1N1 virus? I purchased mine online (better deals) but you can find Jack Black at Sephora, or upscale retailers like Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. Retail price is $15.00 for 3 ounces. Go ahead and winterize your hands!
Free of dyes and (added) fragrance Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer is a Vegan product and contains the following ingredients:
Vitamins A and E to condition and heal skin and cuticles. Rice bran oil to soften and moisturize skin. Eucalyptus, a natural antiseptic, to refresh. Allantoin and glycerin to soften and lubricate dry skin.
