Pros: Extracts a lot of juice. Nice design. Healthy drinks.

Cons: Messy cleanup. Wish I could juice more before cleaning filter.

The Bottom Line: I definitely recommend this. If you have a large family it might get frustrating to keep cleaning filter during use.

Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer

I purchased the Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer with the high hopes of taking all the sugary drinks from my kids. I was on a diet program myself & did a lot of research about how bad refined sugar is. This juicer is a dream to me, although there are some flaws that I would like to point out and hope this review gives you enough information to make your own informed decision.

Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer – What’s in the box?

~ Main Unit comes fully assembled
~ Pulp Collector
~ Pusher
~ Filter
~ Lid with Built-In Pulp Guard
~ Crescent Tool (for tightening and removing the blade)
~ Blade
~ Receptacle with Juice Spout
~ Base with a Locking Bar
~ Outstanding Recipe Book with much information on Juicing and 67 recipes (I will list them later on)

Assembly & Disassembly

Of course, owning a juicer, you will have to learn these 2 steps without flaw because you will need to disassemble the unit to clean it each time you use it. I find I need to partially disassemble to clean the filter out because I make juice for 5 people instead of just myself.

I will briefly list the disassembly.

Step 1 Remove the pusher from the chute.

Step 2 Lower the locking bar.

Step 3 Remove the lid with pulp guard & pulp collector (have a garbage VERY handy).

Step 4 Use the crescent tool to remove the blade. To do this you need to align the pegs on the crescent tool to the holes in the blade. Press and turn counter-clockwise to unlock the blade. Then if you turn the crescent tool sideways it will become a magnet and slowly lift the blade out (something the book doesn't tell you).

Step 5 Remove Filter.

Step 6 Remove the receptacle from the base.

Once you clean everything out just reverse these steps to re-assemble.

My Experience

My experience with the Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer is that it does extract more juice from the pulp than my other juicer. But like most juicers, it is a mess to clean up. Although, I do highly recommend this model. Nothing beats a fresh glass of juice for our health.

The Cons

Almost everything has a con. This Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer is not without flaws (in my opinion).

1. Perhaps too many steps to disassemble the unit.
2. Need to carry the unit to work near a sink & garbage.
3. Wish the pouring spout allowed for taller glasses.
4. You can only add smaller apples in whole. If you have a medium to large sized apple then you will need to cut it like any other juicer.
5. Too many lips for the pulp to get stuck in, which slows down the pulp extraction & in turn clogs up the filter.
6. Have to disassemble everything to clean it when making enough juice for everyone.

All in all, for the price I paid at Macy’s, I truly do recommend the Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer. If the cons aren’t a deal-breaker for you then you should purchase the product and enjoy!
