  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Durability:
Pros:Realistic toy; It's Bob!; Entertaining
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: This is a great addition to any Bob the Builder fan's collection!

The Bob the Builder toy collection is ever growing in our household lately. My 3 year old is infatuated with this little construction man and all of his sidekicks. His birthday was in March, so when I happened upon this Playskool Jackhammering Bob doll, how could I pass it up?

If you are not familiar with Bob the Builder the show, or it’s characters, you can visit www.bobthebuilder.com or www.nickjr.com for more specifics about this hit children’s show.

Jackhammering Bob - Details

This Bob doll is plush and stands about 13 inches tall. He’s complete with his yellow construction hat, clear goggles, earmuffs and his jackhammer (of course!). Bob stands up on his 2 feet and is supported by the jackhammer he holds in front of him. The jackhammer part of the doll is made of a hard, durable plastic.

This doll requires 3 AA batteries that are included at the time of purchase. When it comes time to replace the batteries, you will need a Phillips screwdriver to do so. The battery compartment is located on Bob’s back. You will have to open his vest, which is closed on a seam with velcro tabs, and the sealed battery compartment in inside the vest.

To clean this doll, you will have to surface wash it only. The doll is not machine washable due to the electronic features and battery compartment. The speaker for the audible feature is located on the front of the plastic jackhammer. There is no on/off switch or volume control for this toy. The toy only talks when activated by pushing a button on the jackhammer.

Jackhammering Bob Features

So what does this doll do that makes him so fun and unique? One thing is that he talks. To make him talk, you simply push the orange button on top of his jackhammer. He says a few phrases including:

- “Can we fix it? Yes we can!”
- “Cover your ears, this is going to be loud!”
- “Whew, this is harder than I thought!”
- “Whoaaaa!!”
- “Can we fix it???”

This doll also vibrates, which makes the jackhammer feature seem like reality to a child. When you push the orange button on the top of the jackhammer, Bob will not only talk, he will jackhammer away (vibrating) at the same time! Very cute feature!

Taken from packaging: ”Bob the Builder: Bob is kind, friendly, helpful and hard working. He is a good builder and loves to work with tools, especially his jackhammer. Join Bob the Builder on his next construction job! Push the button on the jackhammer for fun phrases and real jackhammer sounds!”

Likes & Dislikes With This Toy?

I think this is a great toy! It’s based on a very popular kid’s show, it’s a large sized doll, it talks, it performs realistic activities related to the character… what more could a kid want? It has kept my son occupied countless times. He loves this doll, I think it’s a great toy, so those are my “likes” about Jackhammering Bob.

Any dislikes? No way…not a one!

Our Experience With Jackhammering Bob

This toy has been a hit with our 3 year old. He has a ton of Bob the Builder toys, and this one is by far one of his favorites. He loves to have this toy nearby at all times, but especially when he’s watching Bob doing his job on television! He likes and enjoys this toy, he has no problems operating it and it gives him pleasure to play with it. I’d say we’ve had nothing but positive experiences with this toy.

My Recommendation & Purchasing Information

I would definitely recommend this toy for any Bob the Builder fan! It’s a fun, cute toy and makes a great addition to any Bob the Builder toy collection.

Playskool recommends this toy for children 2 years and up. There are not any parts that would be considered a choking hazard, but this toy probably wouldn’t serve any benefit for a child younger than 2 years of age.

I purchased this toy at a toy store, but I am sure it is available at any store that carries toys. The toy is made by Playskool and/or Hasbro, so for more detailed information about this toy, you can visit www.playskool.com or www.hasbro.com.
