Dunkjam's Full Review: JAKKS Pacific Jakks Eyeclops
I have done a lot of Christmas ordering online this year. One of my favorite sites to visit is Memolink.com They always have the top ten gifts that children have asked for. And guess which one was at the top of the list? It was the Jakks Eyeclops, So I started visiting some toy sites to see exactly what other stores had to offer, but this new toy was much better than the other basic microscopes that were out there. There were several regular microscopes (basic) but nothing that was as cute or fun as this one! My eight year old granddaughter Brooklyn is eight years old and she has started a "gifted program" for her high scores she made in her classes. So we drove over sixty mile to a Toys-R-Us Store in Charleston, West Virginia just to find this popular item.
Brooklyn's mother ended up purchasing this toy at Toys-R-Us for $45.00. She knew that Brooklyn had put this toy at the very top of her Christmas list. So I had to start reading up on this new toy so I would understand exactly what it would do. I learned that Jakks EyeClops has a bionic eye that you must be able to get into focus to view your images correctly. It does take a lot of practice to get the camera to make the object viewable. It can view up to 200X the item you are trying to look at so you must have a very steady hand to hold the camera in place. The more you begin to view objects, the better you get at getting the items into focus. You should always take special care of your lens to keep them clean and to avoid scratches on them.
The best part of this toy is that it comes with one cord to plug it into your television set so everyone can see your items you are working on. Now what would you want to look at under the Jakks Eyeclops? The first things we viewed were our hair particles. For instance my bleached hair had many more splits in it than my two granddaughters soft young hair which was basically smooth and even. We have two cats, so it was fun to explore the differences in their furs. We looked at different fibers like cotton, silk, tissues and ribbons.
The set came with a petri dish, a little plastic tube that you can place liquids in and place in the Eyeclops eye.We also have a plastic jar that we are planning on catching some bugs or worms and get a much closer look at them!
I feel this is a very good learning tool. It helps to make the children think outside of the box! We even used some coins to get the girls to read the writing on the coins. We did have to insert three size "D" batteries. You should be very careful using the LED light around the camera lens. Avoid putting this bright LED light directly into your eyes.
Since the Eyeclops magnifies 200X, your children will be very busy looking for items that they want a closer view of. They can use some little pebbles, sand, their fingernails, a few strands of carpet, their hair, skin and even grains of salt, sugar and pepper. The list of things they can explore are bottomless!
It is recommended that parents help them children use this toy so they may answer any questions that they will have.I think your family will have many special conversations while you all explore together with Jakks Eyeclops. When you make learning fun, everybody wins!
