Imagine a healthy milkshake...that's the best way that I can describe the tantalizing and refreshing smoothies to which I have become hopelessly and completely addicted....
There is a reason that hordes of faithful patrons will line up outside Jamba Juice...their smoothies not only taste great, but will make you feel great as well. While they do not come cheap, Jamba's drinks are not only an excellent way to start your day in lieu of breakfast, but also serve as a tasty and refreshing quencher for those mid-afternoon hunger pangs.
Jamba Juice offers an array of smoothies, so even the pickiest of palates should find one to their liking. The smoothies are blended in front of your very eyes and typically include a combination of various fruit, sorbet or frozen yogurt and a scoop of ice. Combined with your choice of "boost" (I will explain below), these ingredients unite to form a delicious and healthy treat...
There are five broad categories of smoothies:
+ POWER SMOOTHIES - These have vitamin and protein supplements added to them...the Powerboost is my recommendation...although the soy protein that is added results in a slightly granular consistency, which may offend some palates...
+ MOO'D SMOOTHIES - These have milk thrown into the mix...I generally stay away from these as I have not found the combination of milk and sorbet to be to my liking...
+ BERRY PATCH SMOOTHIES - These are my favorites...specifically, the Razzmatazz is the smoothie that I select most often...it is a combination of raspberry juice, bananas, raspberries and strawberries...tasty and very refreshing after a workout...
+ CITRUS GROVE SMOOTHIES - If it is your first visit to Jamba Juice, I would recommend the Orange-A-Peel as your introduction into the world of Jamba...it consists of fresh squeezed orange juice, strawberries and bananas with non-fat frozen yogurt...
+ TROPICAL ISLE SMOOTHIES - A bit more exotic, these drinks include combinations that draw heavily from pineapples and mangoes...I do not like these as much...
With each smoothie that you order (typically priced at around $3.50), you receive one "boost". Boosts are vitamin, herb or mineral supplements that are blended into your smoothie...additional boosts are 50 cents each. I generally get the Vita Boost with my smoothies...it contains the 100% of the daily requirement for 20 or so vitamins. Others include the energy boost (consisting of ginseng and gingko bilboa) and the immunity boost (containing anti-oxidants...excellent if you are battling a cold).
Jamba Juice also offers a variety of breads, pretzels and soup...but these are nothing special in comparison to the smoothies...
If you have not yet sampled a Jamba Juice, and one of their close to 300 locations is in your area, RUN, do not walk, and order a smoothie...I am confident that it will not be your last...
