PurchaseLast June I was shopping for a bike helmet when the salesman told me about this wonderful deal on a hybrid bike. I wasn't really looking for a bike, but he insisted that I take it for a test ride. So I did. And the rest is history. The price was just right, $550 on sale. The bike retails for about $750, so I'd say this was a good deal. I'd been contemplating participating in the MS150 charity bike ride that August, and the fact that I got a great deal on the bike, made my decision so much easier! So I bought it...
Components
I don't know much about bikes, so I can't give you the technical mumbo jumbo on the bike. But I can tell you that it has lasted through a lot of abuse. I used to live in upstate New York and the bike lasted very well during the Winter season. I rode this thing through the ice, snow, rain, and occasional sunshine! But never did the parts rust or become stiff. It still looks brand new and it's got over 1500 miles on it.
Pros and Cons
First, let me say that I really can't find any cons with the bike, except that it's pricey. Not for what you get though. But I understand that some people do not want to shell out $550 for a bike, so in that case, this may not be for you. But for the rest of you, I can't rave enough about the bike. It's been a joy to ride and has lasted a very bumpy UPS ride from the East coast to the West coast. When I got the box, it was quite beat up, but inside, the bike was shiny and perfect, just like it was when I packed it! It's very durable and well made. I would strongly recommend this bike, even to novice riders. The fact that it's a hybrid means that it's got slightly wider tires than a road bike, but thinner tires than a mountain bike. This gives you a bit more stability on rough roads and makes the ride less bumpy.
