I would never, ever consider buying a non-JanSport back pack. I bought my bag two years ago from a local Sports Authority. The only reason that I bought it was because my friends were always talking about how great their bags were, so I thought to myself "What the heck!!"
This is a fantastic bag. It's literally been hell and rain. I'm a high school student who carries four 1-inch binders and on average four or five hard-back school books every day. I went through about 2 back-packs a year. That's really hard on your wallet when your only a student. This back has water-proof coat on its inside. I've walked through rain, and I've never had to replace a book or paper because it got wet.
If something ever happens to a JanSport bag (for example: tears, cuts, broken zipper), all you have to do is sent it back to JanSport, and they'll fix or replace it for free.
As I said earlier, I've had my bag for over two years, and it's almost in perfect condition. It just has a little dirt on it from all the experience it's been through. I recommend this bag for anything...hiking, camping, school, etc. Nothing can destroy a JanSport bag.
